Seachem Neutral Regulator and Discus Buffer

What does it do

The Seachem Neutral Regulator and Discus Buffer is a phosphate base buffer system

Features and advantages

Unlike the carbonate base buffer system, Seachem Neutral Regulator is able to both raise and lower pH to 7.0 automatically. Being a phosphate base buffer system also provides a more stable pH adjustment reducing the possibility of pH shock. Seachem Neutral Regulator will also neutralize chlorine, chloramine, or ammonia replacing the needs for water conditioners.

How to use

Simply apply the recommended dosage of 5g or 1 level teaspoon for every 40-80L water to adjust the pH to 7.0. Dosage can be added as frequently as needed to maintain the pH level. Seachem Neutral Regulator and also be used in conjunction with Discus Buffer to target a specific acidic pH level. Follow the ratio chart on the Discus Buffer to maintain desired pH.

Things to consider

  • Since the system is a phosphate based buffer, it cannot be used with phosphate removing filter media such as, Phosbond, Phosnet, Phosguard or Seagel
  • Being a phosphate based buffer it is also not suitable to be use in aquascape
  • Over excessive use might contribute to more algae growth but a proper lighting or with some plants to absorb the phosphate will prevent any major problem.
  • It is recommended to use Neutral Regulator and Discus Buffer along with Discus Trace or Fresh Trace or Gold Trace to replenish minerals that have been precipitate by Neutral Regulator and Discus Buffer.
